THE ARTIST

Mark Seabrook

Anishinaabe visual artist, writer, performer and educator, working from the back country of Tehkummah on Manitoulin Island.

Mark is from Sagamok Anishnawbek at the mouth of the Spanish River, in the La Cloche Mountain Range. After years away, he returned to Manitoulin and a century-old farmhouse beside the Manitou River, a place he describes as peace, healing, poems, open sky and zero light pollution.

His work moves between Woodland-style painting and his own expressive Manitoulin landscapes, with people, animals, ravens, spirit, memory and place running through the images.
