Mother and Child

Medium: Acrylic on canvas, 30x40 inches

Painted at Rapid Lake Indian Reserve, Autumn 2001

Collection of the Artist

My partner suggested I try something new with my portraits, instead of painting woodland men, paint woodland women with children. I thought about it for a few days and said, nope. That would require a brand new design and would take too much effort. She said, how long would it take? I thought about it for another couple of days, and replied, It would probably take upwards of 15 minutes. Which is a long time in the painting department.

We've started a series of women and children, and they ship as fast as I can paint them. Which just goes to show....
